Nikon Introduces the D5 Professional-Grade DSLR, the D500 DX-format DSLR, and the KeyMission 360 4K Ultra HD Action Camera

Two much awaited upgrades and a revelation. That’s how Nikon’s new offerings can be summarized. Finally, photography enthusiasts can get a hold of the D5 Professional-Grade DSLR, the D500 DX-format DSLR and the KeyMission 360 4K Ultra HD Action Camera.

Features of the Nikon D5 Professional-Grade DSLR Camera

An upgrade from the D4 and D4S, the Nikon D5 Professional Grade DSLR redefines the limits of what a camera can do. Image quality is not a question thanks to its 20.8-megapixel CMOS sensor. Meanwhile, its low-noise, high-speed performance is made possible by the EXPEED 5 Image Processor. To capture movement in all clarity, this device is also capable of continuous shooting at 12 fps while every detail is recorded by the redesigned 153-point AF system with 99 cross-type sensors and a dedicated AF engine.

Taking images on low light settings is no problem as well for this device has a wide ISO range from 100 to 102,400 which is expandable to a whopping 3,280,000. Making professional-level movies using the D5 is also possible thanks to its 4K UHD Video Capture at 30/25/24p. You can view the files and navigate the camera controls via the 3.2-inch, XGA Touchscreen LCD. Storing high-quality images and footages will not be a problem for this DSLR because it has two CF card slots. For expanded functionality, the Nikon D5 works with the SB-5000 Speedlight and WT-6A Wireless Transmitter.

The D5 is also the first Nikon professional-grade camera that can be triggered remotely. With the help of the WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter and the WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller, the D5 can control up to six groups of SB-5000 Speedlights for as far as 98 feet. Likewise, its communications system is 1.5 times faster than the D4S. This translates into the transmission of more images in a shorter time. File transfers over LAN have speeds of 400 mbps when wired and 130 mbps wireless. The Nikon D5 comes in two versions: the Dual CF card slot version and the Dual XQD card slot edition.

Features of the Nikon D500 DX-Format DSLR Camera

As the new flagship camera among Nikon’s DX-format cameras, the Nikon D500 has a 20.9-megapixel sensor which works with the EXPEED 5 Image Processor to capture quality pictures and videos. Speaking of video, this lightweight camera is capable of 4K UHD Video Capture at 30/25/24p and you can watch the playback via its 3.2-inch, 2359k-dot tilting touchscreen LCD.

Despite low lighting, the D500 can take great photos using its ISO range from 100 to 51,200. Likewise, no detail will be left undocumented with the help of its 153-point AF system and continuous shooting at 10 fps. Sharing of images to other devices is also possible through its Snapbridge connection and Near Field Communication capability. File space will not be a problem as well for you can load compatible storage devices into its dual memory card slots.

Just like the Nikon D5, the D500 can also be controlled remotely. Thanks to the WR-A10/R10 transceiver, it can trigger SB-5000 Speedlights wirelessly even without optical view. With the help of the Nikon WT-7A/B/C Wireless Transmitter, the D500 can also act as a wireless LAN access point for easy connection with smart devices and computers.

Features of the KeyMission 360 4K Ultra HD Action Camera

Finally, Nikon has entered the action camera market with the KeyMission 360 4K Ultra HD. As it name says, it records true 360° video in 4K Ultra HD via the image sensors and lenses on both sides of the device. Built as a reliable companion for extreme sports enthusiasts, this Nikon camera is shockproof for up to 2 metres and waterproof for up to 30 metres. Camera shake is also minimized by its Electronic Vibration Reduction system.

You also need not guess the level of battery left in the device for it comes with an LED Battery Indicator. The KeyMission 360 is also compatible with HDTVs because of its HDMI output. For more secure mounting, a tripod socket is also available.
