Meanwhile, the camera's low-noise, high-speed performance is made possible by the EXPEED 5 Image Processor. To capture movement in all clarity, this device is also capable of continuous shooting at 12 fps while every detail is recorded by the redesigned 153-point AF system with 99 cross-type sensors and a dedicated AF engine. Taking images on low light settings is no problem as well for this device has a wide ISO range from 100 to 102,400 which is expandable to 3,280,000. Making professional-level movies using the D5 is also possible thanks to its 4K UHD Video Capture at 30/25/24p. You can view the files and navigate the camera's controls via the 3.2-inch, XGA Touchscreen LCD. Product Features in Detail
Widest ISO Range in any Nikon camera
With an ISO range from 100 to 102,400 which is expandable to 3,280,000, advancements in noise reduction and color fidelity and a next-generation AF system that performs in near darkness (EV -4), a world of new shooting opportunities has opened. For surveillance and security, this allows you to get a shot that others can't see without a flash.
Exceed expectations with EXPEED 5
Nikon's updated EXPEED 5 harnesses the power of its 20.8-megapixel CMOS sensor. This allows the capture of vibrant hues and accurate details through Nikkor lenses even during low-light settings. Also, the new 180K RGB Advanced Scene Recognition System pulls it all together and ensures every shot has optimal exposure.
A speed that no detail can outmatch
The D5 can shoot at 12 fps with fulltime AF-AE and 14 fps with fixed focus and AE thanks to a second processor that is dedicated for autofocus. Meanwhile, blackout time is also eliminated via its new shutter and mirror sequencing mechanism. Likewise, consistent and bright images during high-speed capture is made possible by mirror slap. With the help of the EXPEED 5, the D5 can handle up 200 NEF (RAW) and/or Large JPEG images during one high-speed burst. This is enough to capture a 100m sprint without taking your finger off the shutter.
Most accurate AF among Nikon cameras
With its 153 focus points with 99 cross-type sensors, the D5 can precisely track subjects moving at high speed, even in low light. The system is configurable in 153-, 72- and 25-point coverage when used with Continuous AF. All 153 points are compatible with AF NIKKOR lenses f/5.6 or faster while its 15 central points work with an effective aperture of f/8. Whether you're shooting a sporting events or fast-paced activities, the D5 has you covered.
No need for heavy movie cameras
The D5 is the first full-frame Nikon DSLR that can record 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) video with dot-by-dot readout. UHD videos are saved in 3840 x 2160 resolution at 30/25/24p with an angle of view approx. 1.5x lens focal length. 4K UHD time-lapse videos are also possible with this camera. It can also record Full HD 1080 footages at 60/30/24p. For smooth lighting changes, you can trigger its Auto ISO function from ISO 200 to the setting that you prefer. To enhance your movie, you can take advantage of other features such as simultaneous internal and external recording, Flat Picture Control, Zebra Stripes, and a built-in stereo microphone with 20-step increment adjustment.
Full control in an instant
Improved ergonomics and an expanded illuminated button layout provides easy access for key controls. Also, the high resolution XGA Touchscreen LCD makes it easy to perform functions such as selecting AF points, spotting white balance, swiping through shots, adjusting zoom, and editing file names among others. All of this in a light and durable magnesium-alloy body with extensive weather sealing.
Advanced Wireless Lighting System
With the optional WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter and WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller (transceiver), the D5 can control and fire up to six groups of SB-5000 Speedlights of up to 98 feet away. As the first of its kind, the D5 also has an incorporated menu that allows control over the Speedlights. The camera is also fully compatible with SB-910, SB-800 and SB-700 speedlights. This system ensures that you get the right kind of light for every frame.
Faster operation
Shoot more and wait less with the D5’s ultrafast communication system, which performs over 1.5 times faster than D4S. Transfer files over LAN at blazing speeds: approx. 400 mbps wired and 130 mbps wirelessly with the new optional WT-6A Wireless Transmitter, which supports the IEEE802.11ac standard and extends connectivity distance to 656 ft. For even faster performance, shoot in two smaller RAW sizes: RAW size S (12 bit, uncompressed) and RAW size M, both of which maintain exceptional sharpness and detail.
