The Sony a7R Mark IV - Another Milestone

Sony has finally unveiled its megapixel monster in the form of the Alpha 7R Mark IV full-frame mirrorless camera. With its 61-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor and 15 stops dynamic range, it is guaranteed to deliver the highest resolution for a full-frame cam. If you're still not satisfied, you can shoot images up to 240 megapixels with its pixel-shift mode. However, there's really no need to capture substantial RAW files; it gives you 26.2-megapixel photos in APS-C crop mode.

You'll be delighted to know that the ISO range can go from 100 to 32,000, or 50 to 102,400 in expanded mode. Impressively though, even at very high resolution, the A7R M4 can still capture images at 10fps in continuous AF tracking mode while covering up to 68 images in a burst. These are highly impressive specs if you take into consideration the size of these images. It is also equipped with 567 full-frame phase detection AF points (325 in crop sensor mode), and 425 contrast AF points. 

Photographers will also be happy that Sony has redesigned the body with larger, deeper grip, which has been one of the most talked-about issues on their A7R III. Its five-axis image stabilizer will sure come in handy for stills and movies. It also has an all-new 5.76 million dot OLED electronic viewfinder. This by far, is the highest resolution among all Sony cameras. Its rear display is also fully touch-enabled. 

Other amazing features include the faster transfer of data using USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 and WiFi, and its dual UHS II SD card slots. It also upgraded its grip and dust and moisture resistance. Right now Sony has 52 native lenses, so there's really no lack of glass (excluding third party models).  

 The date for the first shipment of the Alpha 7 R IV is expected to land in Australia towards end of August 2019.
