Panasonic Lumix S1H Price and Release Date
Panasonic has unveiled its latest addition to its wide range of compact mirrorless system cameras. Announcing the launch of the Lumix S1H, this new model features a full-frame image sensor combining professional-quality video in a compact and lightweight body.
Camera Warehouse fans will be delighted to know that the S1H is the world's first camera that is capable of recording video at 6K/24p in a 3:2 aspect ratio, 5.9K/30p in 16:9 aspect ratio, and 10-bit 60p in 4K/C4K. The S1H release gives Panasonic its third full-frame mirrorless camera in its product range. This latest addition is specifically developed and designed for film production.
Just like the Lumix GH series, the Lumix S1H also has ultra-portability while having high-quality video performance. It has the advantages of a full-frame image sensor which brings outstanding low-light performance along with a shallow depth of field, plus the much needed extended dynamic range.
The Lumix S1H is highly suitable for hand-held recordings and utilizes image stabilization which is built into the camera's body along with its Optical Image Stabilization. Combining these two image stabilization methods mean the S1H is able to compensate for virtually all types of blurring, which enables users to use the shutter speed of up to 6.5-stops slower compared to being used without image stabilization.
The Panasonic Lumix S Series full-frame mirrorless cameras use the L-Mount system. Right now there are over 46 interchangeable L-Mount lenses available from manufacturers which Panasonic, Sigma, and Leica, and various mount adapters/converters available for a wider choice of optics.
The S1H body is equipped with 2 SD Card slots that are compatible with high-capacity, high-speed, UHS-II and Video Speed Class 90. One can choose from a variety of recording methods which include Backup Recording, Relay Recording, or Allocation Recording that allows users to save photos and videos on separate cards. Its 7.4-V 3,050 mAh high-capacity battery gives you up to two hours recording time in all shooting modes.
The Lumix S1H has Live View Boost feature making it possible to check composition even while in total darkness by boosting sensor sensitivity just for live view. The Night mode, on the other hand, gives a lower level of backlighting, allowing users to watch comfortably, even right after watching the monitor in a dark area for quite some time.
The camera's precise and responsive OLED display used in the LVF provides a smooth display that can be switched from 60 and 120 fps and a minimal lag time of 0.0005 seconds. It also has a 10,000:1 high contrast for impeccable visibility.
