Nikon Unveils the Speedlight SB-5000 Flash and the Nikkor AF-P 18-55 mm f3.5-5.6 Lenses

While Nikon is largely known for their dependable cameras, they are also upgrading the game with their DSLR lenses and flashes. Thus, they have added the Speedlight SB-5000 flash and a pair of Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses in their already stellar line of products.

Features of the Nikon Speedlight SB-5000 Flash

Finally, a radio-controlled Nikon flash! The SB-5000 Speedlight boasts of its Advanced Wireless Lighting function that allows it to be controlled via radio frequency with a communication range of up to 30 metres. It also has an advanced cooling system that allows up to 100 continuous flashes before it overheats.

This device also has a tilting and rotating flash head that enables angle adjustments for precise placement of light. You can rotate the flash horizontally for 180° or from 7° to 90° vertically. Compatible with other Nikon Speedlights, the SB-5000 is also equipped with a Power Zoom function. There is also a rotary multi-selector to access various modes and a special “I” button for frequently-used functions.

The SB-5000 can also be used as a Master Flash when paired with other remote Speedlights. This set-up can be done for up to three groups and four channels. Optical wireless control and radio control can also be combined. Meanwhile, the Unified Flash Control that allows you to trigger the flash from a personal computer with Camera Control Pro 2 software.

Features of the Nikkor AF-P 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens

The Nikon AF-P Nikkor 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G DSLR Lens is the first is the first Nikkor lens that utilizes stepping motor for fast and quiet Autofocus. Made of two aspherical lens elements to reduce lens aberrations, it has a f/3.5-5.6 maximum aperture and a f/22-38 minimum aperture. With an 18-55 mm focal length and 3.1x normal zoom, the settings of the AF-P 18-55 can also be adjusted through the camera.

The AF-P 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 is capable of both Manual and Auto focus. It is also possible to capture stunning out-of-focus bokeh effects with its seven rounded blade openings. You also gain better framing and imaging with the help of the focal distance indicator and the independent zoom ring. This Nikon DSLR comes in two versions: one regular version and another with Vibration Reduction. The VR version provides a camera shake compensation equivalent to four-stop increase in shutter speed.
