- May 17, 2007Leading digital photography forum and news site, dpreview.com, has announced this week that it has been acquired by Amazon.com, one of the world's foremost online retailers. Phil Askey, originator of dpreview.com has said of the acquisition "It will be fantastic to be able to expand and build on [the last 8 years] without compromising our quality or independence. With the support and resources of Amazon we can achieve this." Do you agree?
One of the major advantages and attractions of the dpreview.com site has always been it's objectivity; they didn't sell the cameras they reviewed. Will Amazon's ownership now introduce a conflict of interests or will, as Phil has said, the acquisition provide valuable resources for dpreview.com to grow further?
We'd be interested to hear your views.
