The Sony XLR-H2 Handle with XLR Outputs is a professional audio and handling accessory designed specifically for the Sony FX5 Cinema Line Camera. The handle features two XLR/TRS combo inputs for connecting professional microphones, wireless receivers, or audio mixers, along with a 3.5mm stereo input that supports plug-in power for compatible microphones. Supporting 96kHz sampling and 32-bit float audio recording, the XLR-H2 delivers exceptional audio quality with an extended dynamic range, helping preserve clean recordings even in challenging environments.

Equipped with dual analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and four-channel audio input, the handle enables simultaneous recording from multiple audio sources while maintaining outstanding recording quality. It also supports separate in-camera WAV file recording, providing greater flexibility for professional post-production workflows.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with the FX5, the XLR-H2 mounts securely to the camera's Multi Interface Shoe, eliminating the need for additional cables while maintaining a reliable digital audio connection.

Beyond its audio capabilities, the XLR-H2 serves as a robust top grip handle, improving camera stability during handheld operation. Four integrated 1/4"-20 threaded mounting points allow easy attachment of monitors, wireless transmitters, articulating arms, and other production accessories, while the built-in microphone holder provides convenient mounting for shotgun microphones.

96 kHz sampling for detailed audio
Ambient textures and subtle vocal nuances are captured at up to a 96 kHz sampling frequency for detailed recording that maximises the performance of professional microphones. With a Hi-Res Audio-compatible microphone, frequencies beyond 20 kHz can also be captured, expanding post-production flexibility and adding depth and realism to your work.[1] 48 kHz  [2] 96 kHz

32bit float for flexible post-production
32bit float recording on FX5 provides wide dynamic range and greatly reduced risk of clipping, even if levels are adjusted during editing. This makes post-production workflows more flexible and reduces the need for precise gain adjustments during recording11

Dual ADCs for wide dynamic range
To maximise the performance of high-quality microphones, dual ADCs combining two analogue-digital converters (ADCs) operating at different gain levels are employed to capture a wide dynamic range from subtle to loud input sounds. With dual ADCs, the captured audio is converted into 32bit float digital data, preserving the full dynamic range and enabling greater flexibility in post-production.

Easy-to-grip, easy-to-carry handle unit
The easy‑to‑grip, easy‑to‑carry handle unit features an extended grip that enhances handling and portability, enabling comfortable camerawork in challenging situations such as low‑position shooting. Three anti‑rotation threaded holes allow secure mounting of accessories, and an additional threaded hole supports attachment of a cold shoe13.

4-channel audio input
Supports 4-channel audio input, allowing simultaneous multi-microphone recording to independent tracks for flexible editing. Safety channels with different gain settings and flexible input assignment to CH1–CH4 provide greater confidence and creative control.

Intuitive operation
A high-visibility layout improves operability, with OL (overload) lamps on each input for instant level monitoring. LOW CUT and ATT (attenuator) switches and manual gain dials are grouped on one side, enabling flexible and intuitive setup for each output channel.

Environmentally conscious
Sony's environmental plan “Road to Zero”14 aims for a zero environmental footprint by 2050. The XLR Handle Unit uses recycled plastic materials, constituting more than 41% 15 of the main unit's weight, including our durable SORPLAS™ material.
