Finally, Sigma has produced a Macro lens in its Art series. The 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro allows 1:1 Maximum Magnification with a 26 cm minimum focusing distance which is close enough to capture small subjects such as insects but distant enough to not disrupt their natural movement. Created with 13 elements in 10 groups, this includes 2 FLD and 2 SLD glass elements that reduces chromatic aberration. Meanwhile, the two aspherical lens elements upholds image sharpness by limiting distorion and spherical aberration especially on the edges of the frame. The coreless DC motor allows fast and accurate autofocus while the Super Multi-Layer Coating block off unwanted light sources to reduce image ghosting and flaring which then maintains the accuracy of colours from source to image. To further enhance the subject, use the nine-blade rounded diaphragm to achive stunning out-of-focus backgrounds. Additional accessories such as filters can be attached to its 49mm filter diameter. The Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro lens is made of thermally stable composite material to withstand tough weather conditions.
Product Features in Detail
Quality images at every shooting distance
To maintain optimal performance regardless of shooting distance, this lens has an two FLD and two SLD glass elements that minimizes chromatic aberration. It also has one element with high refraction index. The two aspherical lens elements increase image resolution at close distances to ensure a clearly focused area with a colour streaking-free bokeh background.
Controlled by the lens' algorithm, the focus-by-wire system removes the mechanical connection of the focus drive and the focus ring for more precise adjustments especially for macro photography. Fast and quiet auto focus is also provided by the coreless DC motor while manual focusing is still available during AF mode for focusing accuracy.
Compatible with Sony E-Mount Cameras
The Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter is not needed for this lens can perform the same functions that the converter does. As you use this with a Sony E-Mount mirrorless camera, you also get image stabilization and correction for aberrations. It is also compatible with the Continuous AF option of Sony cameras.
Compatible with the EM-140 DG Electronic Flash
To gain ample lighting for your macro shots, use the Sigma Macro EM-140 DG Electronic Flash with this lens by attaching it to the 65mm Macro Flash Adapter. Meanwhile, other macro flashes and ring lights can also be attached by using a 72mm Macro Flash Adapter on the lens' filter thread.
Compatible with Sigma Teleconverters
Use this lens with the Sigma TC-1401 Teleconverter to get a 98mm focal length at f/4 maximum aperture. Meanwhile, attaching it to the Sigma TC-2001 Teleconverter gives it a 140mm focal length at f/5.6 maximum aperture.
Made up of brass, the bayonet mount ensures focusing accuracy. Its rubber sealing makes it dust-and-splash resistant.
Sigma USB Dock
Attach the lens to the USB Dock when firmware updates or lens fine-tuning is needed.
