This item is fused with two Extraordinary Low Dispersion glass elements to provide colour correction and sharpness throughout the zoom range. It is also built with a multi-layer lens coating technology that reduces flare and ghosting which can reduce image quality.

This innovative technology allows the inner lens groups of the Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX APO DG HSM to adjust its focus without changing the physical length. Meanwhile, the Hyper Speed Motor ensures fast and quiet autofocus thanks to ultrasonic waves.

Using the teleconverter
The lens becomes a 700mm f/8 AF ultra-telephoto lens with a Sigma APO 1.4x EX Teleconverter. For a longer range, attach a 2x teleconverter to achieve an impressive 1000mm f/11 AF ultra-telephoto lens.
