The world's favourite cardioid polar pattern studio microphone just got a whole lot better. Though NT1 has a resemblance with the former NT1-A, the new upgrade has been completely redesigned from the ground up, with the only shared component being the mesh grille. The mic’s transducer is suspended inside the microphone with theinternal Rycote® Lyre® based capsule shock mounting systemthat minimizes external vibrations at the capsule level. The NT1 is a revolutionary large 1" condenser capsule with gold-plated membrane from RØDE. The state-of-the-art surface mount electronics is designed to provide the lowest noise level of any studio microphone available, with an incredibly ultra-low noise, measuring only 4.5dBA of self-noise. NT-1 is made out of 6061 aluminium and then nickel plated to prevent the body from corrosion. The kit includes SMR external shockmount.

The HF6 is the perfect example of RØDE’s state-of-the-art fusion of artistic design approaches and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, with a sound signature reminiscent of the famous microphones of old, while at the same time exhibiting extremely low noise.
Beneath the body of the NT1 you will find the internal capsule suspension, which employs patented Lyre technology from Rycote®. This internal shock mount isolates the HF6 capsule on the X, Y and Z axes, providing protection against vibration that is superior to conventional capsule suspension techniques.
Featuring high-grade components, the circuitry of the NT1 is assembled and tested using exceptionally high-precision machinery operated by the experienced engineers in RØDE’s Australian factory. This meticulous manufacturing process has resulted in our quietest microphone ever - With only 4.5dBA of self-noise the NT1 is the quietest studio condenser microphone in the world!
The aluminium body of the NT1 is first nickel plated for corrosion resistance, before being coated in an extremely durable ceramic firearm coating using advanced electrostatic application techniques to ensure completely even coverage. The coating is then baked onto the surface, before having the graphic components laser etched, resulting in an extremely hard wearing finish that is resistant to scratches or marks.

Dual Lyre system
The unique dual-Lyre suspension system of the SMR was developed by RØDE’s engineers to improve the overall effectiveness of the shock mount. The smaller inner Lyre acts as a tension element, to maintain each Lyre in its neutral position where it is most efficient at cancelling vibration.
The Pop Shield
No expense was spared in the creation of the SMR’s pop shield. Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, it is first chemically etched, shaped and welded before receiving a PVD base coat, followed by an electrostatically charged paint coating. Embedded between the outer panels is a silicon damper, further minimising any resonance that could affect your sound.
The Clamping system
The clamping system of the SMR utilises a greater surface area for increased friction and weight handling, without the need for over-tightening of the locking thread. With the load distributed over a greater surface area, the clamping system is virtually immune to the wear and tear of repeated use.
The frame of the SMR is constructed from an engineering grade reinforced polymer, typically only seen in high-load applications such as safety equipment, automotive components, and military artillery.
