Olympus has raised the ante on its compact digital camera line with the Stylus Tough TG-870 GPS-Enabled Compact Camera. This device sports a 16-megapixel BSI-CMOS Sensor that is utilized through a 21 mm ultra wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom. The lens itself has a f/3.5-5.7 aperture and 21 mm - 105 mm focal length which help create a number of imaging possibilities. The TG-870 is also capable of Full HD 1080/60p video recording to clearly capture those precious moments. Photography enthusiasts will enjoy its Advanced GPS System that can be viewed through its 180-degree tilting high-resolution LCD. Sharing images is also easy for it has built-in Wi-Fi. Built to last thanks to its rugged construction, this Olympus camera is waterproof to up to 15 metres.

Aside from it being waterproof to up to 15 metres, the TG-870 is also freezeproof to up to -10°C, shockproof to up to 2.1 metres, dustproof, and crushproof to up to 200 lbs of force. Therefore, this camera will still perform well despite challenging conditions.

Just like Olympus' OM-D interchangeable lens cameras, this compact camera is built with a TruePic VII image processor that is paired with a 16-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor. This tandem translates to sharp, vibrant, and clear images even underwater. Likewise, its 21-105 mm, f/3.5-5.7 zoom lens is the widest among rugged compact cameras and works perfectly for ultra wide shots.

LCD Monitor and customizable function button

The TG-870 can also take slow-motion video at 120 fps on either 854 x 480 or 640 x 480 resolution. It can also record at 240 frames per second at 640 x 360 or 480 x 360 resolution. When capturing fast movements, you can take advantage of the Sportcam Mode to instantly gain access to four video options. For low-light settings especially at night, you can optimize the camera's settings by activating the Nightscape Movie mode.

You can take advantage of the TG-870's 13 Art Filters which include Vintage, Watercolor, and Gentle Sepia to name a few. Likewise, it has a Live Composite Mode which combines the bright areas from multiple images taken via interval shooting to create stunning panoramic images of skylines and star trails.

Digital connectivity
Using its built-in Wi-Fi, you can connect the camera with the Olympus Image Share app which is available for iOS and Android devices. This allows you to transfer media files to other devices and directly upload to websites and social media platforms. Once the device is hooked to the TG-870 via Wi-Fi, you can use it for live views as well. The camera can also be controlled remotely by touching the display.

Global Positioning System
With its advanced GPS, your position can be tracked for under three seconds with the help of three satellite systems. Users can also access the Olympus Image Track smartphone app to update the TG-870's GPS assist data and GPS logs for streamlined viewing.
