Nikon Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct Lens

The Nikon Nikkor Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct Lens is a fast, normal focal length lens with outstanding image quality and an unusually large maximum aperture of f/0.95 that is designed for use on Nikon's full-frame FX cameras but can also be used on Nikon DX format camera bodies where it provides an angle of view similar to what a 85mm lens would provide on a 35mm film (full frame) camera.

The lens is comprised of 5 elements in 4 groups, has seven rounded aperture blades and features an unusual aspherical lens element to achieve its extreme maximum f/0.95 aperture (nearly three full stops brighter than the next fastest Nikon FX-format prime). The combination of the extra large maximum aperture, fast speed and exceptional image quality make this a very appealing lens for portraiture photographers or when low-light conditions are present.

The new 58mm lens has a rubberized focus ring and comes with a rounded metal hood that attaches to the filter threads using a bayonet mounting mechanism. These features give the 58m Nikkor very nice handling characteristics that make it feel far more like a well-built professional grade camera lens rather than your typical compact prime.

Shooting point light sources like stars and nighttime cityscapes at wide apertures usually requires post-production correction for sagittal coma—an aberration where points of light appear distorted, like birds spreading their wings. Maximum Antireflection
