With the Nikon DL18-50 Compact Digital Camera, you get the function of a DSLR but in a smaller size. Sporting a 20.8 megapixel 1" type sensor, this is paired with the reliable EXPEED 6A Processor to capture stunning images while retaining colour quality. On the other hand, the camera lens has an f/1.8 to f/2.8 aperture range which makes it ideal for low-light shooting. You can also take advantage of its 100-12800 ISO range to get the right sensitivity to light. The lens is also equipped with an 18-50mm focal length and 2.8x optical zoom to aim closer without moving. Aside from its 1/2000 seconds maximum shutter speed, capturing images without delay is also made possible by the DL18-50's Hybrid Autofocus and continuous AF burst shooting of up to 20 fps. Aside from still images, it also records 4K/UHD videos at 30p on 3840 x 2160 maximum resolution. Recorded files, as well as live views of varying angles, can be viewed through the three-inch, 1.037K-dot tilting touchscreen LCD. An SD Card external storage is also available to expand file storage. Sharing images and videos from the Nikon DL18-50 is also a breeze because it supports Wi-Fi with NFC and Bluetooth connectivity.

Product Features in Detail

Superior Nikkor Performance
The Nikon DL18-50 boasts the brightest ultra-wide-angle lens Nikon has ever made. With an impressive f/1.8 aperture at 18 mm, this lens offers exceptional control over depth of field, and beautifully smooth bokeh. Whether you want to exaggerate perspectives or freeze the action, you’ll benefit from the flexibility to shoot with faster shutter speeds and attain clear shots in low light. The advanced optical construction includes aspherical lens elements, extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass, aspherical ED glass, and High Refractive Index (HRI) elements. Combined, this technology ensures superb clarity and contrast throughout the frame. Most forms of colour fringing and chromatic aberration are minimised, and distortion is well controlled throughout the zoom range. Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat reduces ghosting and flare for greater image clarity, even in backlit situations. And a new fluorine coating actively repels water, dust, and dirt, and makes it easier to clean the glass without damaging the surface.

Small size, grand images
Whether shooting interiors, street reportage, architecture, or landscapes, it’s hard to beat a fast ultra-wide-angle lens for its ability to create compelling perspectives. In-camera Perspective Control with shift function allows realistic reproduction of buildings and tall subjects. The Nikon DL18-50 shoots beautifully detailed stills in JPEG or NEF (RAW) format, and captures rich 4K/UHD movies at 30p/25p. The camera’s 1-inch backside-illuminated CX-format CMOS sensor makes the most of every pixel to sharply capture fine details and render clean, crisp images. Low light situations are handled exceptionally well thanks to a standard ISO range of 160 to 12800. The camera’s built-in ND filter reduces the amount of incoming light to enhance creative possibilities when shooting at slow shutter speeds. Full HD video is fully supported and the camera offers clean HDMI output for footage shot at up to 1920×1080 pixels. Whether it’s movies or stills, Nikon’s powerful new EXPEED 6A processing engine keeps you shooting at speed, and improves noise reduction in the high ISO range.

No subject left behind
From landscapes at first light to dramatic urban scenes and candid street reportage, the portable Nikon DL18-50 is swift to react. With exceptionally quick response times and a blazingly fast AF system, the camera is always ready to respond to changes in composition and capture unexpected opportunities. You can shoot full resolution action images at up to 20 fps with continuous autofocus. Or shoot at up to 60 fps with focus fixed at the first frame. Whatever you’re shooting, Nikon’s acclaimed Advanced Hybrid AF system identifies your subject and deploys either 105 phase detection points or 171 contrast detection points. The camera’s superior subject acquisition capabilities are strengthened by the Dual Detect Optical VR system. This system combines information from the image sensor and a separate angular velocity sensor to provide enhanced shake detection and correction. It works whether you’re shooting high-speed movement or capturing a random encounter as you walk down the street.

Have controls like that of a DSLR
Much about the Nikon DL18-50 is designed to be familiar to DSLR users, making it easy to switch effortlessly between your premium compact and your DSLR. On the top panel of the camera body, the PSAM mode dial is augmented by a dedicated ±5 EV exposure compensation dial. The camera boasts a rotary multi selector (with i-button), and the all-important function (fn) button. Menu design and layout will also be familiar. And, if you’re used to controlling aspects like focus and aperture from the lens, the Nikon DL18-50 doesn’t disappoint. A customisable control ring and a zoom ring are mounted onto the barrel of the camera’s NIKKOR lens. You can use the zoom ring to specify a start-up zoom position, and shoot at your preferred focal length the instant the camera is turned on. Settings that can be assigned to the control ring include shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance and Picture Controls. You can also use the control ring to select manual-priority AF, which lets you focus manually while shooting with AF.

A synergy of style and substance
With its sharp good looks, the Nikon DL18-50 breathes true Nikon quality from every precision-engineered angle of its lightweight yet sturdy build. The camera is available in classic black, and the lens is detailed with the signature gold NIKKOR ring. The front grip and textured surface of the camera body ensure the Nikon DL18-50 feels comfortable and stable in your hands. The high-resolution 1037k-dot OLED tilt touchscreen monitor puts vital shooting functions right where you need them. An optional premium camera case in vintage-style leather completes the look, and keeps the camera safe when it’s not in use.

Be smart, connect to a smart device
Managing your photos while you’re on the go isn’t the simplest of tasks, but the Nikon DL18-50 makes it a lot easier. The camera is Wi-Fi- and NFC-enabled, and it’s fully compatible with Nikon’s SnapBridge. Utilising Bluetooth®¹ Smart Ready, SnapBridge maintains a constant, low-power connection between your Nikon DL18-50 and your smartphone or tablet to give you easy control over your photographic life. Shots can be automatically synced to your smart device while you shoot, so you can share your high-quality images in an instant. SnapBridge also lets you control key camera functions via your phone, and automatically updates your camera’s time and date settings. Now your images will be tagged correctly no matter how many time zones you cross.

Versatile In-Camera options
A range of practical in-camera features can accommodate both your preferred style of shooting and your creative vision. In Pre-Capture mode, the camera begins shooting when the shutter-release button is half pressed, and continues to shoot after the button has been released. You can opt to save the entire sequence or just select your favourite shots.² When it comes to reviewing images, an auto delete function streamlines the workflow process for continuous shooting. Designed to reduce the time it takes to check through sequences of shots taken at high frame rates, this function allows you to mark shots for automatic deletion if images are blurred, faces are hidden or eyes are closed. For greater creative control over your image, Picture Controls, inherited from Nikon DSLRs, let you apply and adjust suites of settings keyed to your shooting intentions. You can take complete control over sharpening, contrast, brightness, hue, and saturation when shooting stills and video.

Enhance your videos and stills
The Nikon DL18-50 is a serious ultra-wide-angle camera that knows how to play with big perspectives. Touch up, alter, or even reimagine the moment with the camera’s range of filters, exposure settings and movie modes. In Creative Mode, High Dynamic Range (HDR) lets you fill details in high-contrast scenes and landscapes. You can also add quirky miniaturisation effects to cityscapes and busy street scenes, or use Multiple Exposure (Lighten) to reproduce stunning light trails. When shooting movies, you can capture stills while filming, and a range of advanced movie functions make it simple to quickly enhance video footage in-camera. Go deeper into your scene with slow motion. Shoot time-lapse sequences with smooth exposure transitions. You can even speed up the action and capture a fast-forward dash through a new city with the Superlapse function.
