Product Features in Detail

Take your passion to the next level
Some moments deserve the very best image quality. The new D5200 delivers the most impressive 24.1 megapixel images, thanks to its EXPEED 3 engine - the same processor found in our flagship D4 model. With a wide sensitivity of ISO 100-6400 (expandable up to Hi-2 ISO 25600), the D5200 delivers great performance in all lighting conditions. Yet, you will be pleasantly surprised by the D5200's ease of use. Even if you are new to DSLR cameras, you will soon be shooting professional quality photos.

New perspectives with a vari-angle monitor
For the utmost in flexibility, the D5200's large high-resolution LCD monitor flips out and swivels to just about any angle - giving you picture-perfect framing when shooting overhead, at low angles, in cramped spaces and more.

Focus on what is important
A perfectly focussed shot makes all the difference. The D5200's advanced 39-Point Autofocus gives you exceptionally precise focus, with sophisticated tracking and intelligent face detection. This makes it easy to create gorgeous portraits, beautiful background blurs and dramatic action shots.

Live view mode for precise framing
If you prefer to use the LCD monitor to frame your shots, just press the D5200's Live View button. In Live View, what you see on the ample 3" screen really is truly what you get. You can quickly and easily compose your shot right down to the smallest detail.

A smarter way to call the shots
With the D5200, you don't have to be behind the camera to take incredible photos. Simply connect the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter to remotely control the D5200 from your AndroidTM or iOS device 1,2. It is never been easier to put yourself in the shot. Connect the optional GP-1 GPS Unit to add location information to every shot, so you can remember where your most precious moments happened.

Let your story unfold
The D5200's outstanding image quality lets you record Full HD videos with amazing clarity in a wide range of frame rates. Its autofocus tracking takes the guesswork out of keeping your moving subjects in focus. For extraordinary sound, the D5200 captures audio in stereo with its built-in microphone.

Take your passion farther
With the optional Wireless Remote Controller, you can control your D5200 wirelessly from up to 20 metres away without interruption - outperforming infrared controllers. Simply connect the WR-R10 transceiver to the camera and control the shutter release with the WR-T10 transmitter.
The D5200 is compatible with a wide range of NIKKOR lenses. From zoom lenses, to wide-angle lenses and more - with the D5200, the possibilities are endless.

Reproduces minute details of the subject with the sharp depiction performance of Nikkor lenses and high pixel count of the d5200 — Nikon DX-Format Cmos sensor [new]
The D5200 employs newly developed Nikon DX-format CMOS sensor with 24.1 effective megapixels. Combined with the sharp depiction of NIKKOR lenses, the high resolution renders details of the subject minutely and delivers images with great definition and depth. The sensor also supports wide ISO sensitivity range, high-speed readout during live view and Full HD movie recording.

Renders even delicate detail in skin tone, eyelashes and hair — high-performance image-processing engine Expeed 3 that maintains superior gradation
The D5200 comes equipped with image-processing engine EXPEED 3, equivalent to that of higher-end models such as the D4. It processes multiple tasks in parallel at high speed while maintaining high precision to bring out the full potential of the 24.1 megapixels for both still images and movies. The image processing of the EXPEED 3 is excellent at color reproduction, gradation processing and image quality at high sensitivity. It reproduces human skin tone, eyelashes and hair more faithfully. Furthermore, from image processing and card recording to image playback and image transfer, EXPEED 3 manages massive amounts of data at high speed. Even with high ISO noise reduction and Active D-Lighting, continuous shooting speed is not sacrificed, realizing comfortable shooting. This also contributes to energy saving.

Effective for shooting in low-lit situations such as interiors or night scenes and for moving subjects — ISO sensitivity range up to 6400
The D5200's wide ISO sensitivity range is from ISO 100 to 6400, expandable to Hi 1 (ISO 12800 equivalent) and Hi 2 (ISO 25600 equivalent). The camera reduces noise effectively even at high ISO sensitivity setting while maintaining definition as much as possible to deliver sharp images. Setting high ISO sensitivity enables you to shoot at faster shutter speeds and capture pictures without worrying about image degradation caused by camera shake even in low-light situations or when shooting a moving subject. This superior high-sensitivity performance is also effective for D-Movie and you can record beautiful movies without large-scale lighting equipment even when light is scarce.
