Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D -Nikon Z Lens

The Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D is a manual focus wide-angle lens designed specifically for mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensors. This rectilinear prime features a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture that benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also affords extensive control over depth of field. Three extra-low dispersion glass elements are used to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion throughout the zoom range, while two aspherical elements help further minimize aberrations and maintain sharpness and clarity when working with close subjects. The optical design also incorporates a low-distortion petal lens hood that helps prevent flare, as well as a built-in soft focus filter for creative bokeh effects. Performance is further enhanced by the inclusion of water and dust repellent coatings, which benefit both overall durability and versatility when shooting outdoors.

This exciting prime provides ultra wide-angle coverage up to 113° angle of view which is the widest in its class. The tiny size & light weight match perfectly with mirrorless cameras and are suitable to use with gimbals. 2 aspherical elements plus 3 extra-low dispersion elements successfully correct the chromatic aberration, realize a close-to-zero distortion & deliver a corner to corner sharpness.

Zero Distortion
Pairing an ultra wide-angle field of view with an especially compact design. The lens offers a 13.5mm equivalent focal length. As a Zero-D lens, this 9mm f/2.8’s optical design is specifically meant to limit distortion for clear and accurate portrayals of landscapes and architectural subjects.

f/2.8 Maximum Aperture
The optical construction also incorporates a pair of aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control both spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness and reduced color fringing. Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture is well-suited to working in low and difficult lighting conditions.

Lighweight Design
A Frog Eye Coating has been applied, too, to repel dust and moisture from the front element of the lens to benefit working in trying environmental conditions. Its sleek and lightweight design is well-matched to mirrorless bodies and is ideal for everyday shooting as well as use on gimbals. Additionally, a petal-shaped lens hood is also incorporated into the lens’ design to reduce flare and ghosting when working in strong lighting conditions.
