In conditions of extreme light intensity, such as sunshine on snowy mountains or on the beach, or when using a camcorder, ND (Neutral Density) filters are recommended as an essential. The Cokin Grey Filters (P Series) are used to provide neutral grey on certain areas of an image. This filter is darker from the edge and lighter till it reaches the middle part. It helps balance image composition especially in landscape and portrait photography. Grey ND filters are available in ND2, ND4, and ND8 Densities where ND8 provides the darkest shade.This filter fits the Cokin P series holder.

Neutral Density Filters (ND)
Designed so that absolutely no colour from the entire visible spectrum prevails, the neutral density filters can be used in many different contexts, depending on which type is used : uniform shading (square) or graduated shading (rectangular). Uniform ND filters reduce the quantity of light that reaches the sensor - or the film - increasing the exposure time. These filters have 3 main practical applications: emphasizing the flow of movement, reducing the depth of field, avoiding overexposure.
