The Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G Lens is a compact, lightweight, and ideal for a wide range of subjects from everyday snapshots to landscapes, portraits and indoor sports. You get sharp, clear detail and natural color throughout the zoom range at any focusing distance. With a large f/2.8 maximum aperture, it is also great for shooting in low light conditions, as well as producing shallow depth of field effects with smooth bokeh. The lens also features two AA lens elements that work to minimize spherical aberration and distortion for greater sharpness throughout the zoom range. Three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy. With its XD Linear Motor feature, it fully utilizes the speed potential of the camera body and focuses on and tracks even fast-moving subjects with outstanding speed and precision, as well as Sony’s Linear Response MF feature that ensures that the focus ring responds directly and linearly to subtle control when focusing manually. Additionally, this lens is also dust- and moisture-sealed for use in inclement weather.

Sony’s original Nano AR Coating creates a precise, regular nanostructure on lens surfaces that does not interfere with light transmission while suppressing reflections that can cause flare and ghosting.
