Portable yet with a super-telephoto reach, the Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens also offers a a versatile zoom well-suited for sports and wildlife applications. The Z-Mount Lens/FX Format brings a f/4.5 to f/40 Aperture Range and 100-400mm Focal Length which covers a broad telephoto range, and it incorporates Inner Balance technology that maintains stability when tracking moving subjects and shooting atop a gimbal head in addition to being relatively lightweight and compact, making it ideal for travel.

With two Super ED and six ED glass elements, color fringing and chromatic aberrations is effectively eliminated. Also incorporated in the optical construction are ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats to prevent ghosting, reflections, and flare. The Nano Crystal Coat controls incidental light from a diagonal direction while the ARNEO Coat controls incidental light from a vertical direction.

The multi-focus system incorporates two AF drives providing accurate focusing throughout the zoom range while the Vibration Reduction Image Stabilization reduces the appearance of camera shake by approximately 5.5 stops.

The Nikon Z 100-400mm also features Inner Balance Technology, Programmable Control Ring, Information OLED Panel and L.Fn Button, and optics with Weather-Sealed Design and Fluorine Coating.

ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.

Super ED Glass

ARNEO Coat

Stepping Motor
NIKKOR Z lenses use a stepping motor for fast, accurate, smooth, quiet autofocus with reduced wobbling. This quiet drive system makes the lenses ideal for use when shooting video.

IF Lens
A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.
