Nikon Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.2 S Lens

The Nikon Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.2 S is a full-frame portrait-length prime lens for Nikon's Z-mount mirrorless cameras. It features an f/1.2 to f/16 aperture range, an 85mm focal length and a fast maximum aperture for low-light shooting. Additionally, the lens offers a multi-focus system and dual STM autofocus motor for continuous and smooth operation when recording video. The lens also has the ability to control focus by simply turning a ring on the lens barrel.

The design of the lens incorporates two aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element to reduce aberrations and distortions throughout its zoom range while also improving sharpness and contrast. One ED glass element is also featured in this design to reduce chromatic aberrations further still.

The lens also has an extensive weather sealing design that helps protect it from moisture and dust intrusion while also allowing it to operate at extreme temperatures.

ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.

Aspherical Lens
A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the center of the lens.

IF Lens
A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.

A/M
A/M stands for Auto-Priority Manual Mode. This mode also enables an easy transition from autofocus to manual during AF operation. However, mode switch sensitivity has been altered to reduce the possibility of sudden unintentional switching to manual focus while shooting.

Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism
An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting.

Nano Crystal Coat
An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths. Nano Crystal Coat solves ghost effects caused by red light and effectively reduces ghost and flare caused by light entering the lens diagonally.
