Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens
- Maximum aperture of 1:4.5-5.6
- 100-400mm focal length
- 77mm filter size
- Rear focusing system with USM
- 17 elements in 14 groups
- Super UD-glass elements
Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM is an L-series super telephoto zoom lens armed with an Image Stabilizer. The Image Stabilizer is compatible with Extenders 1.4x II and 2x II and has two modes. The Super UD-glass elements and fluorite largely eliminate secondary spectrum. The floating system also guarantees high picture quality at 100-400mm focal lengths. The lens offers 1:4.5-5.6 aperture and 77mm filter size. Its 17 elements in 14 groups minimizes unwanted beam of lights entering the lens and with a combination of rear focusing system with USM and image stabilizer, imagery will be at its best eliminating blurs. Super UD-glass elements on the other hand eliminate distortions and aberrations.
Super zoom
The EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM is an L-series super telephoto zoom lens, equipped with an Image Stabilizer. Its fluorite and Super UD-glass elements largely eliminate distortions and aberrations. A floating optical system also ensures good picture quality at all focal lengths. The lens is compatible with Extender EF 1.4x II and Extender EF 2x II.
Image Stabilization
The EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM features a three stop Image Stabilizer (IS), making this an ideal lens for handheld work. Shutter speeds up to three stops slower than normal can be used with no perceptible increase in image blur. Major movement in a particular direction is automatically interpreted as panning and IS is turned off in this plane.
Ultrasonic focusing
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.
Precision optics for high image quality
High contrast, low distortion and good corner-to-corner resolution is evident throughout the zoom range. A virtually circular aperture diaphragm, which is controlled electromagnetically, gives out-of-focus regions a softer, more even feel, and lets in-focus subjects stand out against a blurred background.
