The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM is a wide-angle L-Series Camera Lens that features f/1.4-22 Aperture Range with 35mm Focal Length and Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics making it the ideal lens to control depth of field and shooting low-lit situations. Its lens construction is composed of two aspherical elements, one UD element and BR element that helps increase clarity plus minimizes chromatic aberrations. It is built with rounded 9-blade diaphragm, weather-sealed design for protection and applied with Subwavelength and Fluorine Coatings to lessen ghosting and lens flare. The Ultrasonic autofocus motor provides fast and near-silent AF operation with Full-Time Manual Focus Override. Blue Spectrum Refractive optics
Canon developed Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) optics to tackle coloured fringing in large-diameter lenses. This bespoke organic optical material is more effective at correcting such fringing than other technologies, like fluorite, Ultra Low-Dispersion (UD) or Super UD glass. Coloured fringing is caused by chromatic aberration – a phenomenon where light of different colours is focused at different points. Using BR optical material in the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM minimises this effect. Other elements in the lens can then be optimised to give superb sharpness, contrast and resistance to flare.
