Product Features in Detail
Full control even without wires
As long as the flash is within the range of the optional WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter, you can trigger it even without optical control. This allows you to position the SB-5000 in the perfect spot to get the right amount of light. You can control the flash remotely for up to 30 metres. You can even use it with more flashes to create more dramating lighting effects.
Small in size, big in functions
Though it is small, a lot of the SB-5000's functions have been placed in the rotary multi selector and OK button. There's also an "i" button that gives you frequently used functions. For more flexible functionality, you can use the SB-5000 with the D5 or the D500.
Hot-shoe mount flash cooling system
Event, studio, and wedding photographers will enjoy the SB-5000's ability to fire 100 consecutive flashes without overheating due to its cooling system and heat-shedding design. This allows you to capture more shots in a shorter time.
One flash to rule them all
You can use the SB-5000 AF Speedlight on-camera as a Master Flash to control other remote Speedlights (up to 3 Groups: A/B/C and 4 channels), or use it off-camera wirelessly as a remote flash controlled by either your camera's built-in flash (compatible cameras), another Speedlight or the SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander. You can even mix optical wireless control (Groups A/B/C) with radio control (Groups D/E/F). For studio photographers, the SB-5000 AF Speedlight is equipped with Unified Flash Control and can be controlled from a personal computer using the optional Camera Control Pro 2 (Version 2.23 or later) software.
Adjustable flash head and Power Zoom
You can tilt the flash head from 7° to 90° and rotate it horizontally for up to 180° to the left or to the right. Meanwhile, the Power Zoom function allows the zoom head to match the focal length of the lens.
