Product Features in Detail
Super 35mm CMOS Sensor
The 8.85 Megapixel Super 35mm 16:9 CMOS sensor supports 4K (DCI) recording of 4096 x 2160 pixels. The image data that this 4K CMOS sensor provides is also used for 2K (DCI) HD Processing and Full HD 1080/60p recording.
Each pixel the sensor has a wide pixel pitch that allow more light to enhance the camera's sensitivity while minimizing noise. The wide pixels helps support ISO speeds of up to 102,400 which is perfect for low-light imaging, while the sensor itself boosts data-readout time.
Dual DIGIC Image Processors
The EOS C200 has two DiG!C DV 6 image processors that provides 1,800 horizonal TV lines during 4K recording. and quickly processes image data for smoother recording.
Likewise, its Over Sampling High Definition Processing uses the impressions caputred in 4K to 2K and Full HV videos. It also supports an ISO range from 160 to 25,600, which is expandable to 102,400 using Extended Sensitivity. Low ISO values are ideal for shallow depth of field recording and dialing it up while using a gain setting provides flexibility during low light situations.
Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus
Each pixel in the sensor has two photodiodes that can be detected at each photosite to facilitate smooth, accurate, and fast focusing through Canon EF lenses. The C200 Cinema Camera also has a one-touch AF and a continuous AF within approximately 80% of the overall image area. Also, Face Detection AF allows you to maintain focus by tracking a person's face in the frame. You can also tap anywhere in the LCD touch screen to access instant autofocus. AF tracking speeds can be adjusted to up to ten steps while sensitivity has seven.
Dual Pixel Focus Guide and AF Tuning
Focus Guide uses the Dual Pixel CMOS AF data to provide focus feedback that maintains focus accuracy in 4K recording. This feature shows a rectangle that turns green once the subject is in focus. Otherwise, the rectangle turns gray while arrows indicate the direction for lens adjustment to regain focus. You can also use the SET button for multiple pre-determined focus points which is useful for shots with more than one subject
Meanwhile, AF Speed Tuning provide users quick lens drive adjustments of any of ten steps. Subject tracking is varied to any of seven steps, making it easier to select the right responsiveness during changes with the subject.
New Cinema RAW Light
The EOS C200 has built-in Cinema RAW Light which is a 4K RAW recording file format that offers more compression than standard RAW but without compromising quality, colour, and resolution. It also maintains a wide dynamic range data for more grading and compositing versatility. However, only CFast 2.0 Cards with a VPG130 rating must be used when recording in Cinema RAW Light because of its high speed of up to 130MB/s.
Cinema RAW Light files can be transcoded to other formats like DPX or ProRes for future editing and online delivery. The Canon C200 also allows simultaneous recording of 4K on a CFast 2.0 Card and 2K Proxy Video to an SD Card.
Internal 4K UHD and Full HD Recording Modes
The EOS C200 has 4K UHD and Full HD recording of up to 60 fps in MP4 format. Images can also be captured and stored on SD cards due to the MP4 codec's compact size. Mirror recording is also allowed when using the camera's two SD card slots. Meanwhile, the Full HD 120fps option is perfect for slow-motion reels that enhance visual expression.
Seamless connectivity to a professional videographer's workflow
Cinema RAW Light provides a wide dynamic range and high colour fidelity which works best in post-production. It also supports emerging HDR standards such as ACES 1.0. It also works with Canon Log to reproduce tones that the CMOS sensor can capture for better shadow retention and grading flexibility.
The free Cinema RAW Development 2.0 software supports Cinema RAW Light while maintaining existing features like HDR monitoring and Log Gammas. Meanwhile, the Canon RAW Plugin 2.0 for Avid Media Access is also a free software that imports RAW data to Avid Media Composer for a stress-free playback.
Various external connectivity options
The C200 has two XLR inputs for microphones to enhance audio quality and an HDMI connector for viewing videos on smart TVs. There's also an ethernet connector and a DC in for continous power. You can also listen to the audio by plugging in a headphone to the appropriate jack.
