The FE 50mm f/1.4 GM Lens from Sony is a full-frame prime lens designed for the company's E-mount cameras. The lens features an f/1.4 to f/22 aperture range, which covers wide-angle to portrait length perspectives. It has a 50mm focal length, which is equivalent to 75mm in 35mm camera format.

The G-Master design of this full-frame prime lens houses 11 elements in 8 groups, including one ED glass element and two XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements that help provide sharp, high resolution images with minimal distortion and chromatic aberrations. It also features Nano AR II anti-reflective coatings, which suppress flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.

This full-frame prime lens has a stepless physical aperture ring with de-click functionality, as well as a focus hold button and an iris lock switch that locks the auto focus function when shooting in manual focus mode. Additionally, it sports two XD Linear AF motors with internal focusing for fast, quiet autofocus performance that is ideal for video shooters using an APS-C sensor size.

Movie subjects are smoothly captured and tracked even when shooting at 120 fps or other high frame rates.

Intuitive operation supports the creator's vision
Linear Response MF provides manual focusing response that rivals mechanical lenses, and is more than responsive enough to produce smooth rack focus for movies. An iris lock switch can be locked so that the aperture ring can be fixed at the “A” position to prevent unwanted changes, or manually set from F1.4 to F16. Two customizable focus. hold buttons and an AF/MF focus mode switch provide extra shooting versatility.
