Pentax Unveils K-70 DSLR Camera and HD Pentax DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 Lens
Pentax has released the K-70 DSLR, an entry-level camera that is built for the tough outdoors, and the HD Pentax DA 55-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE Lens. Both products carry 12 Months Genuine Warranty from Pentax Australia and are now available for pre-order at Camera Warehouse.
The Pentax K-70 DSLR Camera is the first from Pentax which has a Hybrid Autofocus during Live View mode. This ensures accurate focusing so that fast movements remain clear in photo. Even if the subject is on the move, the camera’s SAFOX X AF Sensor Module is fused with 11 eleven sensors (nine of which are cross-type) allows the refocusing on the subject even if it moves away from the original point. Meanwhile, no movement is left undocumented with the help of the camera’s burst shooting of up to 6 fps and fastest shutter speed of 1/6000 second.
Speaking of images, the power combination of the 24-megapixel, AA-filterless APS-C Sensor and Prime MII Image Processor translates to fine images even during high sensitivity shooting. Searching for better frames is made possible by the K-70’s optical viewfinder with an almost 100% Field of View. Shooting under low-light settings? No need to fret because the camera has a maximum ISO of 102,400. Camera shake is no match to this DSLR’s Shake Reduction mechanism which automatically detects camera movement especially when taking a panning shot.
The Shake Reduction can be combined with the Pixel Shift Resolution System that allows the capturing of a composite image by taking four images of the same scene but shifting the sensor by a single pixel for every image. Likewise, the Pentax K-70 Digital SLR Camera is also capable of Full HD shooting of up to 1080/60p. Audio is recorded through the built-in stereo microphone while accurate focusing is achieved through the Continuous AF Mode. The camera also adjusts to the right exposure level based on lighting conditions via the aperture control function.
Despite capturing shots at varying and challenging angles, you can still preview the image through the three-inch, 921k-dot variable angle TFT LCD. When shooting outdoors, the air-tight LCD eliminates reflection and dispersion of light for improved visibility. The K-70 DSLR can also withstand harsh weather elements for it is dustproof especially in its sensor. The camera is also freeze proof for up to -10°C. Any form of media taken using this Pentax DSLR can be stored in a compatible SD card.
Sharing of photos online is made easy through its Wi-Fi functions. In relation to this, having the Image Sync application allows you to check previews, take photos, and adjust camera settings through the mobile device. It also facilitates easier sharing of images to social media websites.

This lens is capable of 5.5x zoom which enables it to cover the focal lengths of medium and super telephoto lenses. All of these are housed in a compact case that is only 442 grams in weight and 89 centimetres long. The retail package of the Pentax-DA 55-300mm f/4.5-6.3 includes a lens hood, a front lens cap, a rear lens cap, and a soft case. Lens filters with a diameter of 58mm can be used with this package.
