We have the Nikon D40 available now in both single and twin lens format.
Original message:
We've just received confirmation that the new Nikon D40 pricing will be announced tomorrow at 5pm. Hopefully by then we'll also have confirmation of the full specifications of this market-busting new-comer from Nikon. No-one has official information as yet, but the general consensus is that it an entry level DSLR (more compact that the D50) with a 6.1 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch LCD, 2.5 frames per second burst mode, ISO range from 200 to 3200, 3 auto-focus points, 3 metering modes and USB 2.0. We also expect that the D40 will be available in body only and kit form, with pricing around the $900 mark. Hopefully we'll be able to confirm this tomorrow.

UPDATE:
They just keep coming...we can now confirm that the D40 will be available in two forms, both kits, pricing as follows:
Nikon D40 18-55mm AF-S kit - $949
Nikon D40 18-55mm AF-S + 55-200mm AF-S kit - $1199
You can pre-order both of these kits immediately. Nikon is suggesting that limited numbers will be available for pre-Xmas delivery, so please get in quick if you're interested. You can cancel at any time, but better to have that option than not. As yet, no body only option is available.
