Canon Introduces the EOS 80D Digital SLR Camera

A much awaited upgrade from the EOS 70D, the Canon EOS 80D Digital SLR Camera is the first EOS device with continuous Autofocus from a Dual Pixel Autofocus camera during still live view shooting. Match this with its 45-point, all crossfire Autofocus module and you will get a fast and accurate AF even when switching between subjects. Aside from this, the other specs of the Canon 80D are impressive too.

Features of the Canon EOS 80D Digital SLR Camera

Sporting a 24.2 Megapixel APS-C Sensor, the 80D captures exceptional image quality with its DIGIC 6 Image Processor. The same processor provides burst shooting of up to 7.5 fps and high light sensitivity when shooting in dark conditions. Speaking of light sensitivity, this Canon DSLR has an ISO range of 100-25600 which makes it perform well even in low-light conditions.

The cropping of photos in post-processing is also reduced by the nearly 100% optical viewfinder with 0.95x magnification. This feature also shows the AF points, the AF mode, and other details which are normally hidden during normal mode.  Aside from tracking the camera’s settings, the EOS 80D DSLR also has a RGB + IR Metering Sensor that detects skin colour to provide accurate Autofocus and exposure settings.

Images can be saved in either RAW or JPEG formats with a maximum resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio. Aside from stunning photos, the Canon EOS 80D can also capture Full HD 1080p videos of up to 60 fps. Videos can be saved as either MOV or MP4 files with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. There is also a 1280 x 720 option for MP4 videos.

After capturing photos and videos, you can view the files through the three-inch, vari-angle touchscreen LCD with 1.024M dots. The viewing angle for this liquid-crystal LCD monitor can be adjusted horizontally and vertically by up to 170°. The adjustable LCD is also vital in having a live view of the frame especially for challenging angles.

You can also enhance the files that you have captured with a number of Creative Filter options. For still images, you can employ filters such as Grainy Black and White, Soft Focus, Fisheye Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Miniature Effect, Art Bold Effect and Water Painting Effect. On the other hand, the filters for movie shooting include Memory, Dream, Old Movies, Dramatic B&W and Miniature Effect.

Sharing files online and wireless camera control is also made possible by the built-in Wi-Fi and NFC. Paired Android smartphones can connect to the Canon Connect Station CS100 for easier photo or video transfers. Meanwhile, posting your photos on social media platforms is a breeze through the Canon iMAGE GATEWAY.  The wireless connection also permits the printing of photos with a PictBridge-certified printer even without a computer.

The same wireless technology also gives you the power to shoot remotely from a distance once it is patched to the Canon Camera Connect mobile app. From the connected device, the camera’s shutter, ISO, focus, aperture, and shutter settings can be adjusted. Media files saved on the EOS 80D can also be projected to HDTVs thanks to its Full Digital Living Network Alliance compatibility.

Dimensions of the Canon EOS 80D Camera
