Silent autofocus is the trademark of Ultrasonic Motors, and this new compact lens has a combination of USM with the same new electronics as the 28-90 II for the fastest autofocus in its class when used with the EOS 300V. Its lightweight weight of 6.7 oz./190g also has a revised outside appearance, built with a new rubber zoom ring. The lens’ aspherical element is used to maintain high image quality all throughout the zoom range and the optics use only lead-free glass.

Professional construction
The EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 II USM lens is a high-performance standard zoom lens with a fast maximum aperture that stays constant throughout the zoom range. It is resistance to dust and moisture and focuses down to just 0.5m.

Fast maximum aperture
A maximum aperture of f/4-5.6 allows flash-free, hand-held shooting in low-light conditions when using a tripod is impractical.

Aspherical and UD elements
For optimum visual performance, the lens incorporates aspherical elements, to correct spherical aberrations, and Super UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements to eliminate chromatic aberrations. The result is crisp, high-contrast undistorted image quality all the way across the frame.

Ultrasonic focusing
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.

The lens comes supplied with a lens hood and a soft case.

The EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 II USM is designed as a standard zoom lens for the EOS 300V. It provides the fastest AF speed in its class* when used with this camera. Faster all round performance is also delivered when the lens is used with other EOS models. 

Optimised AF drive
To achieve this increased speed the EF 28-90mm f/4-5.6 II USM uses an AF drive pattern optimised for the EOS 300V, has a new type of CPU with increased communication speed, and features a new AF algorithm.
