Why we like the Pentax K10D:

The Pentax K10D recently won the TIPA award 2007 for 'Best Expert Digital SLR' beating the likes of the Nikon D80 and D200 and Canon EOS 30D. This may come as a surprise as the camera is squarely aimed at the low- to mid-range dSLR user, but the features and build quality of the K10D sets it apart within this class. The full metal, weather-sealed body and advanced functions such as double exposure (not available in cameras twice it's price) are just two examples of why this camera to this prestigious award. What Pentax say about the K10D:
The PENTAX K10D digital SLR features an array of PENTAX innovations including 10.2 effective megapixels and a PENTAX-developed Shake Reduction (SR) system that effectively offers a 2.5 to 4 stop advantage for sharp, blur-free images even under difficult shooting conditions, such as macro and telephoto photography or low light settings without a flash. Also featured is a newly-developed Pentax Real IMage Engine (PRIME) designed exclusively for PENTAX digital SLR cameras to produce well-balanced, true-to-life images. PENTAX also incorporated a new high performance 22 bit A/D converter to quickly transfer images with accurate color tones and richer gradation from the CCD to the imaging engine. The new Dust Removal (DR) system incorporating PENTAX-original Special Protect (SP) coating helps keep the CCD surface dust-free, and adds a shift mechanism to shake dust off the CCD. Review : This is the best C-sized sensor DSLR on the market. After getting the chance to use the new Canon40D and Nikon 10 mp models. The Pentax is the best on the market. Unless you are looking to get a Full Sized, 35mm film equal sensor. You will waste your money getting anything other than the K10D. Top camera,at a price they should be. The only downside, the lack of telephoto lenses to fit it. Best DSLR in C-sized sensor.

Review : This is the best camera I have owned. I had read glowing reports on the K10D and they are all true! Wonderful results from a really easy to use, but very powerful and fast camera. With the K10D shake reduction, I have taken hand held shots at 1/4 sec of our dog and they come out crisp and clean. Amazing! And the Sigmas lens (18-200mm) is worth double the price. Great camera at a great price. Finally the wonderful after sale service from Camera-Warehouse. Who else advises you of firmware updates, a month after you have bought your camera. Not uncle Teds!

Review : In summary, this is a very professional no compromise camera, robust, packed full of features, and d FAST. Review : I got my k10d yesterday so took lots of pics last nite.This camera is great.Everything i was hoping it would be and more.Shake reduction is excellent,photos nice and sharp with excellent color.Glad i waited for it to come out couldnt be happier.dont think about getting one just do it you wont be sorry.

Pentax DA 18-250mm lens now available

Pentax have announced a new 18-250mm DA lens available separately or in kit combination with the K10D.

The lens is priced at $729 on its own or $1649 in combination with the K10D digital SLR.

The lens follows Canon and Nikon's releases of similar broad-range 'utility' lenses, but uses the built-in image stabilisation of the Pentax K10D to keep the cost (and weight) down.
