Review : The other advantage over the 5DmkII is the 7D has 100% viewfinder coverage, compared to 98% on the 5DmkII. I was really surprised when I learnt that the 5DmkII didn’t have 100% coverage.

Review : @CameraMan: No, which is probably why the burst rate on the 5DMKII is around 4fps and the 7D has 8fps.No doubt Canon are working on the 4D or 5DmkIII with dual (or triple!) processors. That would be a very nice camera!

Review : I agree...this is the ideal camera if you’re upgrading from an older EOS 300/350/400. The smaller APS-C sensor means you can use all your existing EF-S lenses, unlike the 5DmkII.

Review : This camera absolutely flies! The dual processors are awesome. The only reason to look beyond the 7D to the Canon 5D Mk II is the full-frame sensor, but if this isn’t an issue, save your money and buy this camera!

Stock for this model is going to be VERY difficult to source right up until christmas, so please, order your Canon 7D now to avoid disappointment.

Canon announces EOS 7D digital SLR

Canon has this afternoon announced a new digital SLR, the EOS 7D. Due to ship in October, the Canon EOS 7D will fit between the 5D mark II and 50D in the EOS range.

The camera features dual DiG!C 4 processors and a new 18-megapixel CMOS APS-C size sensor (hence it's place below the full-framed EOS 5D mark II).

As well as the new body, Canon have announced 3 new lenses:

The first two of these lenses will be available on their own, and also combined with the EOS 7D in 'Super' and 'Platinum' kits. A 'Premium' kit, including the Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens will also be available.

All products will appear during October.
