AF-S Nikkor 200-400mm F4G ED VR II is an FX-format compatible telephoto zoom lens offering Nikon’s exclusive support for focal lengths from 200 mm to the super telephoto 400 mm. This is the successor to the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G IF-ED, offering improvements in performance and function. With a Nano Crystal Coat, it significantly reduces ghost and flare combined with four ED glass elements which minimizes chromatic aberration for higher optical performance. The built-in vibration reduction (VR) offers less camera shake giving a shutter speed increase equivalent to 3.0 stops. This lens offers three focus modes - A/M, M/A and M. Its fixed aperture of f/4 renders beautiful background blur and lets you preserve an exposure across the whole focal range. It is compatible with APS-C and Full Frame Sensor DSLR Cameras.

ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.

IF Lens
A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.
